#Nutrithursday: How Much Carbohydrates do you Consume in a Week?

Something happened recently that got me to start thinking of how much carbohydrate i consume daily. In the morning a typical person like me takes bread, afternoon because you are at work and rice seems the most available option, then you eat rice again and in the evening you get home tired and you just want a fast food and so you make eba, rice again or spaghetti. The next day the cycle begins again. Carbohydrate end result is sugar, and steadily your sugar intake starts to rise.

when you are presented an array of food, choose the one with low calories and low sugar- Healthcommunicators

Let's not even start talking about how one is quick to get that bottle of soda in Lagos traffic and increase your sugar intake by another 39g. Choi!!!!  So i started doing my research on food low in sugar and i stumbled on the great post from healthcareng.com on 10 Nigerians food low in sugar. Oyah lemme copy here for my readers too.

Fiber food: Example is Garden Egg, Carrots, cucumber, orange, cabbage etc. these foods can be eaasily found around us and makes for a great meal.

Pap: Pap is very low in carbohydrates. It is made from corns. It easily makes one food without so much as adding to your weight. Pap does not accumulate in the body and easily digest. It also gives energy.

Nuts: If you consume nuts then you are blessing your health. Example of Nuts are Ground nut, cashew nut, walnut. Instead of consuming junks you can replace it with Nuts.

Unripe Plantain: This makes for a great meal when combine with vegetable. Try it please.

Amala: My favorite, very light to eat, low in carbohydrates, and delicious. Especially taken with gbegiri that is made with beans hence you get your protein too. It does add excess fat to your body and gives you needed energy

Tuwo/Fura, Beans, Semo, Pepper soup are also great food one can eat to reduce excess intake of sugar. High intake of sugar can leads to diabetic.

Let's all be conscious of our carbohydrate intake and consciously include meals to get a balance diet.
