Stakeholders call for Increase budget for Family planning As a strategy to control and avert the implication of rapid population growth in order to achieve sustainable development goals, stakeholders have called for increased budgetary allocation for family planning as Nigeria joins the rest of the work to mark 2017 World Population Day (WPD).  Speaking on the 2017 WPD theme, Family Planning, Birth Spacing: Empowering People, Developing Nations, in a recent release by National Population Commission (NPC), its Chairman, Chief Eze Duruiheoma, stated that family planning and birth spacing are measures to attain a sustainable family size by way of allowing for adequate intervals between births, employing especially the use of contraception. Justiceforchisom : The family of late Chisom Jane Anekwe (nee Okereke) and LEAP Africa Alumni are demanding for justice following her painful death at the Magodo Specialist Hospital. The young mother of two daughters died on April 30th, 2017, while giving birth to her third child, a boy after a prolonged labour. Sadly, the baby also died. According to her family members and friends, Chisom was abandoned and left unattended to deal with labour pains and other pregnancy complications. she was  laid to rest in Awka, Anambra State today, May 16. Family Planning; A means to tackle Malnutrition in Nigeria

Malnutrition often starts with a pregnant woman lacking all the right nutrients and vitamins the fetus needs to grow. As the baby’s organs properly develop during the first five weeks of pregnancy, a mother needs to eat balanced diet for if the child becomes malnourished in the womb, the damage can be permanent.  According to UNICEF 90,000 children could die in the coming year, amounting to almost 250 child deaths each day,  unless the international and local community takes swift actio n.   " The world produces enough food to feed every man, woman and child on earth.
