Vaginal Care after Delivery

Vaginal Care after delivery
If you have just had a baby through vaginal delivery, give yourself and your vagina a huge round of applause, she deserves it!

During delivery i was given an episiotomy and instead of 6 weeks healing I was anticipating, it took about 5 months to heal. It was horrible. I did a lot of things wrong that made the healing worse and did some things right.

So, let me share some tips that helps

1. It's important to keep your stitches clean. This will reduce the chance of getting an infection. Change your sanitary pads frequently and wash your hands before and afterwards.

2. Use warm water to rinse while bathing or urinating. Warm not hot! African Mama's will tell you hot, warm water is enough to do the tricks and heal you just right

3. The fear of pooping after vaginal delivery is the beginning of wisdom (Lol) which is why my very African Mama’s tip is to take lots of liquid especially (pap) and food rich in fibre content, take it plentieee and you can easily go without the fear of ripping your stitches apart. This worked

4. My mum also taught me a neat trick that was heaven sent after months of suffering which is the use of honey and garlic. Mix honey and garlic and apply to your Yoni morning and evening. This worked within two weeks

5. Please Mother’s, If you go through more than one pad an hour for more than a few hours, or your discharge is bright red after the first week, or if you’re having abdominal pain after the first few days, contact your healthcare provider

6. Google how to do kegel exercises and start when you are pregnant, many articles claims it works in returning your vagina back to the way it almost was

7. If your stitches become smelly contact your doctor as it might be a sign of infection
8. At this stage it is advisable to relax as much as is possible and not put pressure on your vaginal area by sitting for too long or doing waka waka, laying down to feed your baby helps too.
Share your tips with us please.

Welldone Mama’s. Stay powerful, stay strong.
